The Lumad Accompaniment Program is an expression of the Mindanao churches solidarity with the Lumad. It is under the component of Mindanao Lumad Ministry guided by the ‘do no harm’ principle; the IFI Mindanao is there to witness, not to proselytize.
This homegrown accompaniment was a unique and enriching experience for me. Living among Lumad and learning their culture, history, and struggle contributed to who I am and what I stand for today. I became a witness to the injustices and human rights violations they have faced. Amidst all these, I pray that one day, they will enjoy their rights to self-determination in their ancestral domain.
To the accompanier like me, remember, accompaniment is about journeying alongside, not leading or dictating. It is a journey of mutual learning and solidarity.
